Step 1: Get Some Dough
You can buy premade pizza dough at your neighborhood grocery store or, if you have higher standards than that, you can easily make it yourself! Here’s an easy, helpful recipe by An Italian in My Kitchen that walks you through how to make your own homemade traditional Italian pizza dough.
Step 2: Prepare Your Toppings
Sauce? Check. Shredded Cheese? Check. Any other toppings are totally up to you. Want to throw some pineapple on there? Go ahead. We don’t judge. Be sure to cook any raw veggies or meat before assembling the pizza on your dough.

Step 3: Add Dough & Toppings
Place raw dough to your Pizza Chef insert tray, and add sauce and cheese to the top. (Olive oil can be added to reduce sticking, but isn’t 100% necessary with the Pizza Chef.) Don’t go overboard on the sauce; 4-5 spoonfuls should be enough unless you like your pizza super saucey. Be sure to leave a 1/2-inch perimeter for your crust. Then you can generously sprinkle the cheese on there; use about 2 cups. Then add the other toppings you’ve prepared.
Step 4: Heat Skillet
Place your Pizza Chef skillet over medium-high heat and cover the pan with the lid. Covering the skillet is very important because it allows the cheese to melt perfectly without burning the bottom of the pizza. Cook for 10 minutes.
Pro Tip: You may also want to check the bottom of your pizza, so you can see if it has cooked to a nice golden color.
Pro Tip #2: You can also add the pizza to the broiler for a couple of minutes if you like it a bit crispier. We’re talking 1-2 minutes. You have to be careful with the broiler — it’ll burn your pizza if you’re not watching it closely.
Step 5: Enjoy!
Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing it up and enjoying that delicious stove top pizza!
